DAY 1 OF THE DESERT TOUR FROM CASABLANCA: CASABLANCA – MEKNES – VOLUBILIS – FES
This would be the first day of our desert tour from Casablanca, in which we will first visit some of Casablanca’s iconic historical monuments such as the Hassan II mosque (an architectural masterpiece). After lunch in the city, we will drive to Volubilis next, passing by the old imperial capital Meknes. Volubilis is an important archeological site, since it used to be a Roman city.
After exploring the well-preserved roman ruins, we will finally head to Fes city where we will have dinner and spend the night at either a hotel or a Riad.
DAY 2: EXPLORING FES – GUIDED TOUR OF THE CITY
For the next day of our desert tour from Casablanca, we will explore everything that the spiritual capital of Morocco has to offer. In fact, Fes was the first ever imperial city founded by an Islamic dynasty in Morocco, hence why it’s considered a spiritual and holy capital. We will walk through the narrow streets of Fes’ old Medina, in order to learn more about the traditions and customs of locals, and discover the wide range of artisanal products displayed by craftsmen.
Our tour will also include, the colorful Chouara leather tanneries, and a variety of buildings showcasing the finest Arabo-Islamic architecture. After we are done with that we will explore the modern part of the city as well, before finally returning to our hotel or Riad.
DAY 3: FES – IFRANE – MIDELT – ERFOUD – RISSANI – MERZOUGA DESERT
Today on our desert tour from Casablanca, we will begin our journey towards Morocco’s Sahara Desert, driving through the Middle Atlas mountains. Along the way, we will meet many beautiful Berber towns such as Ifrane and Midelt.
After crossing the stunning Ziz valley, we will reach the town of Erfoud, also known as the capital of fossil. Then we will make a stop at Rissani in order to visit its famous weekly Souk, before finally arriving at Merzouga. Merzouga is the gateway town to the Moroccan desert, and that’s where we will be spending the night at a hotel.
DAY 4: MERZOUGA DESERT AND CAMEL TREK TO DESERT CAMP
After waking up in the desert, we will have breakfast at the hotel then head out to the nearby Khamlia village. Khamlia is important for its rich history, and many people visit it nowadays to get a chance to experience the genuine Gnaoua music played by its masters. After that, we will roam free through the endless desert dunes, meeting Nomad families and spending time with them to learn more about their lifestyle.
Finally, we will ride our camels through the sunset and head to the desert camp where we will be spending the night. You will enjoy a cozy atmosphere around a campfire and under the starry night sky, followed by a mouthwatering dinner before sleeping in our tents.
DAY 5: MERZOUGA DESERT – TODRA GORGES – DADES GORGES
This next morning desert tour from Casablanca program, we will all wake up in time to admire the sun rising and casting her beautiful colors on the desert dunes, then we will return to Merzouga riding our camels once more.
You can shower and have breakfast at the hotel, before we start driving towards the famous Todra Gorges. On the way there we will pass by the towns of Rissani and Tinghir before finally reaching our destination. The site, where we will also have lunch, is known for its 300 meters high gorges that attract people from all over the world.
We can hike around the valley or simply walk along the Todra River, the experience will be just as interesting regardless. Finally, we will head to our final destination of the day: the Dades Valley where we will have dinner and spend the night at a hotel.
